Daren Abramaitys ‘28 Recognized by 2025 ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge

The political science major was acknowledged for supporting nonpartisan student voter engagement

Congratulations to Daren Abramaitys ‘28 for being named a 2025 Student Voting Honor Roll Recipient by ALL In Campus Democracy Challenge!

Today, the (ALL IN) celebrates students, campus leaders, and other stakeholders who boosted nonpartisan civic engagement on their campus for the 2024 elections during their ALL IN Awards Day, a virtual day of celebration. From civic learning to voter participation, ALL IN recognizes those who empower students to become lifelong participants in democracy. ALL IN supports more than 1,020 campuses nationally to make nonpartisan civic engagement an ongoing part of campus life.

Abramaitys was nominated for the honor by èßäÊÓÆµDirector of Civic Engagement and Service Learning Bethany Smeeton because of his exceptional dedication to advancing democratic engagement at èßäÊÓÆµ University.

“As a voter engagement assistant in his federal work-study position with Wesleyan Engaged, Daren has demonstrated outstanding leadership by organizing voter registration drives and ensuring that students, faculty, and staff were informed about the voting process, including key deadlines,” explained Smeeton.

Abramaitys represented Wesleyan Engaged at the Day of Dialogue event hosted on campus last fall, where he engaged in inclusive conversations about the importance of voting and civic responsibility. Additionally, he helped organize civic holiday celebrations on campus, including the Vote Early Day speaker event, further promoting voter engagement.

In addition to his role with Wesleyan Engaged, Daren is a member of the Batten Honors College and Student Government Association.

“As a Campus Vote Project Democracy Fellow with the Fair Elections Center, Daren has gained valuable knowledge of voting rights issues, election law, and inclusive organizing strategies, which he applies to create a more inclusive voting culture on campus,” said Smeeton. “He is not just a champion of voter engagement; he is a true catalyst for lasting change at VWU. His work has helped empower the entire campus community to vote and ensure that everyone has the tools and knowledge needed to participate in elections.”
