Stories That Bind Us: The èßäÊÓƵOral History Project
Marlin Memories to capture the voices of èßäÊÓƵ alumni
University News | March 3, 2025
èßäÊÓƵ University is embarking on a meaningful initiative to preserve its history, one story at a time. Through its new oral history project, Marlin Memories, the University is inviting alumni to share their personal experiences, recollections, and reflections, ensuring that the legacy of èßäÊÓƵcontinues to inspire future generations. This initiative, undertaken in collaboration with Publishing Concepts, Inc. (PCI), aims to create a unique collection of narratives that celebrate the impact of a èßäÊÓƵ education. Please note that while you will be asked if you would like to purchase a book upon its completion, no purchase is required.
A Living History of èßäÊÓƵ
èßäÊÓƵ University has long been a place where lifelong memories are made. From unforgettable professors who shaped careers to friendships that have stood the test of time, every Marlin has a story to tell. With Marlin Memories, èßäÊÓƵis providing an opportunity for alumni to document their experiences in a meaningful way.
“This project is about more than just collecting stories—it’s about celebrating the collective spirit of èßäÊÓƵ,” says èßäÊÓƵDirector of Alumni and Parent Engagement Tina Milligan. “Each memory contributes to the rich tapestry of our history and reaffirms the lasting influence of a èßäÊÓƵeducation.”
How It Works
Alumni may receive a postcard, email, or phone call from PCI, prompting them to verify their contact information and share their stories. The process is simple and accessible, ensuring that every graduate has the opportunity to participate.
Online Submissions: Alumni who receive an email from PCI will be directed to a personalized link where they can submit their stories and photographs digitally.
Phone Interviews: Those who receive a postcard with a phone number can call PCI to verify their details and recount their Marlin memories to a trained representative.
Printed Publication: At the conclusion of the project, these stories will be compiled into a beautifully crafted Oral History Publication, available for purchase exclusively to èßäÊÓƵ alumni.
Publishing Concepts, Inc., a family-owned business with over a century of experience, specializes in preserving institutional histories through oral storytelling. The company has worked with universities, fraternities, sororities, and military organizations across the nation, ensuring that the narratives collected remain authentic and secure.
PCI is committed to privacy, assuring alumni that their information will be used solely for the Oral History Project and VWU’s alumni records. Additionally, while participants will have the option to purchase the finished publication and exclusive Marlin Memories merchandise, no purchase is necessary to share a story.
Why This Matters
